Pedigree was one of Britain's foremost doll-making companies, before it was taken over by Hasbro in 1985. This is Pandora, a 17" Pretty Posey, who was made by Pedigree in 1973. Her neck has a rotational joint, which means it can be tilted, making her easy to pose, hence her name. She also came in a 12" size, called Baby Posey. As with all Pedigree dolls, she is exceptionally well made and moulded from strong vinyl - made to last. She wears a white and lilac print dress trinmmed with broderie, and a mob cap. |
| Sadly, boy dolls never seem so popular as girls. This is a particularly nice example. Again made by Pedigree, Peter is 13" tall and is very sturdy. These small babies were originally designed as 'bath dolls' to help teach schoolgirls the rudiments of baby care. Peter's open-mouthed smile can be found on other dolls in the Pedigree range. He wears a knitted outfit of green trousers, striped jumper and a jaunty green tammy. | ![]() |

| Here's a special one - a lovely Shirley Temple. Made by Ideal, from porcelain-look vinyl in the 1970s, she is dressed in the child star's famous red-spotted full-skirted chiffon dress, white socks and buckled shoes. She wears a red ribbon in her ringlets and has the trademark Shirley Temple dimples in her cheeks. | ![]() |
