Well, we couldn't end without mentioning Beanies, could we? They've taken the country by storm, and trying to get hold of a Beanie teddy is virtually impossible unless you set up a permanent camp outside your local dealer's shop and hijack the delivery man! Here are the bears everyone wants - purple Princess bears, with the white rose embroidered on their chests. These bears are sold in aid of the Princess Diana Memorial Fund. With all Beanie Babies, the tags are almost as important as the toy. There are two tags - one is the red heart- shaped card swing tag attached to the animal by a white plastic clip, the other is the 'tush tag' sewn onto the body. Earlier Princess bears are marked 'PVC' pellets, later are 'PE'. These bears are exchanging hands for fantastic sums of money, and, so, once again, it's a question of being in the right place at the right time. We happened to be in a toyshop when they were unpacking Beanies, hence we paid the retail price of £4.99 for our Princesses. And recently we visited York - just as a Beanie delivery had taken place, so Curly, Erin and Glory were £4.99 each, too!! Other highly desirable Beanie bears include Britainnia, Glory, Erin, Valentino, Curly and Peace - keep looking in your local shop. You too could strike lucky. And a tip - Ty Attic Collectables are still reasonably easy to obtain, and the bears are gorgeous. It might be worth while collecting these lovely bears now before everyone else latches on to them. Susan and Jenna hope that you have enjoyed the second issue of British Doll Showcase. We plan to regularly update the gallery photos, so please keep visiting! Bye! |
