Once more,
Cabbage Patch dolls are reduced in Toys R Us - the basic child doll, and
also the baby, are just £9.97 each, which is great value if you are fond of
these cheeky dolls. Several of the big stores have dolls on offer in the
run-up to Christmas, and no doubt the January sales will have even
more. Tesco often sell off ends of lines very cheaply; at the moment they
have Spice Girls for under £7. In a few years time, Spice Girls will be
collectable, especially if you resist the temptation to open the boxes!
We have been trying to build up our Strawberry Shortcake collection and have most of the common ones now, though not all the pets. Several times we've been lucky enough to find the dolls on local markets for about £1, all complete. Now we're looking for the 14" Blow Kiss Baby Strawberry Shortcakes (and the others in the family), or even just the outfits. Also, the ballet Strawberry Shortcake would be a nice one to have, as Jenna is studying ballet at university and collects all kinds of ballet dolls. Recent additions to our doll collection include a boxed Sheena made by Palitoy in the 1970s, a boxed Katy KopyKat, a boxed Penny Puppywalker - it's always a bonus if you can get hold of the original box, because normally there is so much detail to be found on them. We also bought a Tippy Tumbles who still had her control box attached. (Often these get separated from the doll and then she won't perform her somersaults.) Another addition was a beautiful Katie - Tiny Tears sister - with growing hair, practically mint, complete with three hanks of hair. |
